The UP College of Medicine Class of 2002 stands as a testament to the reach and impact of Filipino physicians across the globe. From the original 141 graduates, the class has flourished into a vibrant community of healers, educators, and leaders whose presence is felt both at home and abroad.
A strong core of 68 classmates continues to practice in the Philippines, serving patients and communities across the archipelago. Of these, 38 are based in Metro Manila, while 21 have chosen to remain in Luzon outside the capital. Four are in the Visayas, and five in Mindanao-together ensuring that the class's influence touches every major region of the country.
Beyond national borders, the Class of 2002 has established a significant footprint in the United States, where 60 alumni now reside and practice. Their contributions span diverse specialties and institutions, reflecting the adaptability and excellence of Filipino medical training.
The class's reach extends even further, with alumni scattered across the world: three in Australia, two in Singapore, and one each in Dubai, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Bahamas. This global distribution speaks not only to professional achievement but also to the spirit of service that transcends geography.
As we celebrate this remarkable journey, we also pause to honor three classmates who have passed away. Though no longer with us, their memory remains woven into the fabric of our collective story, reminding us of the bonds we share and the legacy we carry forward.
Together, the Class of 2002 embodies both rootedness and reach-anchored in the Philippines, yet extending its influence across continents. It is a story of dedication, resilience, and pride, one that continues to inspire and unite us nearly a quarter century after graduation.
